Neptune Caves

Neptune’s cave is placed in the calcareous promontory of Capo Caccia, on the coast-side more exposed to the sea strength and erosion. A real gift of earth, a rare and wonderful place where you can discover its geological characteristics. Not far from Alghero, it can be reached by boat-ferry or by land also with guided tours.

Every year over 150 thousand visitors, coming from all over the world, visit the cave and its fascinating surroundings characterised by its enormous concretions and its small limpid internal lakes. Many chambers, tunnels and wells are spread over 2500 squared metres, making it more complex and intricate. It’s called the "Naturalistic Pearl of the Mediterranean sea" for its natural rare characteristics.

Moreover it is important to notice the geological origins of the promontory of Capo Caccia, aged between 65 and 135 millions of years ago. A very interesting place, certainly not to miss for whom is on holiday in Alghero or in its outskirts.
